Please recommend some films to your fellow NSCers

It doesn't matter if you list one or many. Ideally list films that you think others here will benefit from. They don't have to be revered great pieces of work, just anything you like that people might have missed.

Format:
Year - Title - Genre - Who you think would like it

Here’s a few off the top of my head:

2012 - Silver linings Playbook – Romcom – Only those who like romcoms, but it’s a bit different

2016 – Deadpool – Superhero dark comedy – Adult humour and violence

2016 - Rogue one: A Star Wars Story – SciFi – Even if you’ve never watched Star Wars it’s decent

2018 - Bad Times at the El Royale – 1960s Noir thriller –

2019 - Ready or not – Comedy Horror – It’s horror for the gore, but not scary

2019 - Jojo Rabbit – Comedy Drama (war) – Unusual take on war from a German child’s perspective

2021 - Free Guy – Gaming Action Comedy – If you liked video games

Probably my favourite film this century would be King Arthur Legend of the Sword.

2017 Directed by Guy Ritchie lots of action decent cast if you don't count David Beckham good fun unless your a Black Leg I suppose.

Never listen to anyone else’s opinion on any film, it is so, so subjective, and you’ll more than likely end up sitting through more absolute gash than decent stuff, plus we often remember favourite films with an element of nostalgia and fondness that often equates to less than the sum of its parts in the cold light of day.

As you were.

Indeed it depends on whether we're talking artsy fartsy cinema or commercial fun here. Films I've seen in the last few days include "Nope", an unusual science fiction/horror film set in the American west, which is a mix of art-house and commercial. It went to streaming September last year and I give the film about an 8 out of 10 . Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a purely commercial fantasy and maybe a 7 out of 10. Released recently in time for Easter, it's just a bit of unpretentious fun.

Firstly, thank you so much for your contribution to the thread.

Secondly: If people list a bunch of films they like and you've seen a few of them, you may get a sense of whether they like the same sort of thing as you or not. If you don't go by other people's opinion, how do you decide what to watch?

Not artsy fartsy (as you can tell from the films I listed), just anything you feel like recommending.

Could not disagree more.

Would be interesting to know what films you enjoy watching.
