Falmer Petition to PM

In itself, this is true. But it's on forums like that one that the NIMBYs hang out and mobilise.

And, as we know, the NIMBYs do have ways of getting heard at government level.

The Nimbys read NSC. if they weren't bright enough to think of the propoganda value of the low petition numbers by themselves, they certainly are aware of it now.

Then I would suggest that a) we encourage as many people to sign as possible and b) consider the media response (as suggested earlier on this thread), to any public attack on the petition. The sad last post of TG, and the fact that he will never see Falmer built is far and away the more relevant story.

One of the NIMBYs who has picked up on the thread on the Peacehaven forum goes under the the Username "Ex-Model".

This is what she has to say in response to ROSM's comment that "we have a bunch of idiots at this council, who have not listened to the views of the local council tax payer":-

Thye can't have been that idiotic to have been smart enough to figure out that the planned stadium actually encrouched on to Lewes District Council Land. e.g. parking lot. Silly buggers in Brighton...... if they want a stadium for Brighton then why not stick the bloody thing TOTALLY inside the "!£$""£$"£%^$& city limits of bloody brighton and get on with it. whinge whinge moan moan. Oh for christ's sake this whole stadium issue is soooooooooooooooooooooo boring for a zed list team in the first place. yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Now a question.

Which "Ex Model" is an LDC councillor, representing Peacehaven, and was a member of LDC's cabinet at the time they took the decision to challenge Prescott's decision to approve the planning permission?

This is pretty pathetic , 500 odd signatures. Come on everyone, send out some emails, let's get this thing at least in the thousands.

What I don't understand is why are you so bothered about what is written on forums or local rags by the anti-Falmer brigade regarding one petition? They were against Falmer before, and they will be after this. There will always be an argument put forward against the stadium whatever we do, does it really matter if they try and spin this in a negative way?

Is she still a cabinet member?

What bothers me is that, at this very minute, Lewes District Council are finalising their submission to Ruth Kelly's department, on their Appeal against Prescott's decision. The deadline is next Thursday. Part of their case will be a claim that "people don't want the stadium".

Magnificent username. I assume she is aware that it is a common euphemism. If she is so bored by the issue why is she spending so much public money on it?
Now that the petition is out we do need people to sign it-mistake or not.

Could we get something in the Notts Forest program? Possibly get some people that post on other teams forums to upsell it a bit as well. Push the petition to the edges of the universe to get those Peacehaven NIMBYs to shut up.

The sad thing is that it might have been effective, if there had been time to get things properly organised.

However many people sign now, it will be a lot less than the 61,000 who signed the last one.
