I read somewhere his imaginary friend as a child was an agoraphobic turtle named Dennis. Dennis had a fundamental dislike for the human race, he told Chris, but for all the ponies and hawklets and kittenfish he looked to float toward to befriend through youth, none of them really "got" him. They became ever so close, to the point where Chris for a spell wouldn't answer any questions unless Dennis okayed them. Chris' parents had to have him hypnotised, but the tragedy of the story lies really in that the session with the watch-pendulising brain-changer affected Dennis more than it did Chris. So, for a week or so, Dennis could no longer see or hear or feel Chris. Chris saw Dennis mourning their separation for a day or two, paddling hopefully around the mystic juices that flowed through the Hughton family home, and then flick through a sort of haunting Yellow Pages to find the next human child or badgerling to associate with. Chris became a Socialist shortly after.

Happy New Year Meade's Ball, I don't know how you think of this stuff but keep doing it.
Always brings a smile to my face :)

I think you've overlooked the most significant part of that reference: "If not a player, what job would you like to do?". Well he's not a player any more, and he'd clearly rather be a ****ing lift engineer than be manager of our beloved club! Hughton OUT!

sorry?

I think this is what swung it for Chris in the job interview.

It does raise the issue of where imaginary friends go to once you get to a certain age.

An elegant and succinct synopsis MB.

He has 53 caps for Republic of Ireland, meaning technically it's 4 non-British manager's in a row.

His brother, Henry, ended Gerry Ryan's career by breaking his leg in a horrendous foul at Selhurst. We were a goal down at the time and I remember, firstly, the Albion players having to be restrained from killing him before he was sent off and then finishing with determination to punish Palarse. Think Neil Smillie equalised and, although we pushed hard, match finished as a draw. Picture of the injury in the Argus next day was gut wrenching.

One of the first things he can do is fix the overload sensor for loan players.

It's obviously been malfunctioning for too long now by permitting a dangerously high capacity level.
