what a great role model for today's footballer/youth - loyal, never injured, proud, smartly dressed, articulate, well spoken, still loves the Albion and was genuinely delighted to be there. Not bad for someone who played for the Albion over 60 years ago.

My father in law, Roy Marshall, was the reserve keeper at the time. He did not get a look in. Oh well. According to family legend Billy Lane even refused him a transfer to Chelsea.
