Viva Las Burgess Hill
Holiday Village.

Highly reccomend this place, Weather you are going with kids or wanting a quite time with the Mrs this place will suit you. There is planty to do during the day, loads of activities going on, or if you would like a more quite enviroment there is a 'quite pool', or evan if you book early enough you can get a swim up room with you own private pool.

Snorkeling is a must!

I hope you like the heat.

Just don't get suckered into buying a full visa (unless you're travelling outside Sinai or down to Ras Mohammed)

If I was you I'd stay out of Naama Bay.

Mates went to Hilton Sharks bay and said it was awesome

I would 100% recommend Sultan Gardens

Great value for money, manager will arrange free transfer to and from airport if you email him, check it out on Trip Advisor.

Right on the sea, has its own jetty etc.

We went this May, we booked it through Travel Republic

Stayed there in 2003. A lot of work has been done there since then. The only downside is that there is no proper beach. Any entry into the water has to be from the pontoon, otherwise you'll cut your feet to bits on the coral (not supposed to walk on it anyway), not to mention chancing it with the stonefish.

Go on Google Earth and have a look. Sharm area is in high res.

I've seen a lot of good reviews for this as well. I've heard there isn't much outside the hotel in this area. Is this true?

Been there about 6 times, Naama Bay is great for nightlife, bars etc - The Camel bar is worth a visit, big screen for footie, free peanuts!!! good atmosphere - take care with hygiene everything has potential bugs on especially money, take some loperamide too, (its usually just a 24 hr bug)-

I used to dive there, which is very good, although now a little overused but if you've not tried it well worth a go or at least snorkel (they do a day trip to Ras Mohammed which is worth the trip and St Catherine's monastery is a great day crossing the desert up to the high mountains.

Most hotels are pretty good but if you end up at Ras um Sid it's a 10-15 mins taxi ride to Naama Bay for an evening out unless you want to stay at your hotel bar/restaurant.

If you like funstuff - para-sailing behind speeboat, water skiing, windsurfing, quad biking in the desert, go-karting, horse riding etc Naama Bay is the place to be for a quieter chill out time stay at Ras um Sid or if you haven't booked Dahab is chilled or the Egyptian mainland down south of Marsa Alam (where I now go - a bit more pricey though)

We only went outside for one day when we went on a snorkling boat trip, but you are right nothing is in walkable range. To be honest we had no interest in visiting Naama Bay anyway. We were AI so didnt need to find any bars or anything. There are two building sites either side but that didnt effect us at all, one side may well be finished by next May anyway. Temperature in May is not too hot either like it can be in July/Aug.

We went once to Naama Bay when we went to Sharm this year for two weeks and it was pretty shit to be honest stayed in the hotel complex as all our needs were met as all inclusive

we stayed at sonesta beach in sharm great place all inclusive , casino next door. fantastic place but beware of the bug! all seven adults in our party had it but none of the kids did. narma itself is alright if u like getting pestered by almost all the shopkeepers. once they engage you in conversation theyve got you!

The bug has less to do with the food than you might think. Yes, you may pick up something from what you eat, but it'll probably be more likely down to too much alcohol and sun, going from the heat straight into a cold room, handling the local money etc.
A lot of people take Imodium with them, but this doesn't work in most cases. If you are unlucky enough to get the shits, the best stuff is drotazide from the local chemist.
We know someone whose husband goes to Afghanistan and Iraq, she always asks us to get some stuff while we're in Egypt so she can send that to him.
Been nearly 30 times to Egypt, and been ill exactly 0 times.

the local chemist we went to was class. a kind of cross between an egyptian and a cockney." take these and youll shit no more mate" were his kind words. so i took them and unfortunatly shat lots more. the thing that worked wiyh all of us in the end were salt sachets for rehydration.

Four Seasons is absolutely fantastic, Hyatt almost as good, has inflatable jetty, lazy river, the lot. You wont want (need) to leave. Been there (we do 4 days/3 days in each just to break it up) 4 years running. Each one has 6 restaurants. Hyatt better for snorkelling as has an inflatable jetty - just pop off it into an aquarium. Enjoy.
