Anyway we should stop getting in the way of all this mudslinging. We're making the place look untidy.

Actually its nice that you and cunning fergus give some sensible input without immediately jumping to the conclusion that to speak out is to be racist or bigoted. Also you both seem to have a far more better understanding if the underlying reasons than myself. Not to mention more elagance in saying it, tact has never been my strong point.

Says the man who calls me a racist then a black wannabee. The only thing robust about you is your y-fronts held together by years of pish stains.

Just you seem to feel the need to keep making the same point over and over again. You would demonstrate better character by accepting we all hold different opinions and moving on. It makes you seem a little fragile is all, just an observation.

Coming from the man who called me a racist and a black wannabee for putting my opinion across, then you call me robust lol. As for the fragile thing and moving on? You called me a racist and then were accused of the same thing by another, Guiness put forward facts that turned out to be wrong as well. Then he tells everyone his step dad is a black Londoner and all his step family are mixed race, so basically the same thing he had admonished me for earlier in the thread. My mum married a gardener, it never made her an expert on poxy flowers. After all this you both want to step back as if you were both sucked into the thread and are above it all. I would not think to tell you about acting or him about pension management systems. But yet you both seemed to be experts on where I have lived all my life and seen changes, as soon as the race/prejudice card was used I knew you were both (insert word here).I will leave you two to your own devices.

Thank you for proving my point.

There is nothing racist or bigoted in making this point...........

I was having this conversation with a friend the last night and he's about as "right on" as it gets. We were actually talking about Rotherham rather than this but the principle's the same. People should be allowed to speak out but equally must be prepared to take it on the chin if people don't agree with them.

It's a tough one, your point about downward pressure on wages is correct but that's the legislature's responsibility, not the immigrants. In my opinion, what is left of the working class need to get their acts together, stop squabbling and stand up as a group. We're not coming out of Europe anytime soon, regardless of what UKIP and the Tory right like to think. We might get the referendum but we won't be allowed to vote ourselves out.

I couldn’t agree more, however as discussions on this board prove accusations of little Englanders, bigots and racist are the common vernacular when such views are expressed……………….if people disagree play the ball not the man.

We are never all going to coherently agree on the interpretations of current events, history, statistics or commentaries etc. however just because some views do not align themselves with the contemporary doctrine does not mean they are de facto wrong. Let’s refer to that dynamic as the Galilieo’s law.

Not entirely what you mean by legislature, however if you mean the Gov’t then I guess the electorate is responsible for electing the Govt and therefore those who make the laws. These laws would of course be largely in line with political ideologies and election manifestos.

In my view what has happened in the last 15-20 years is that a socialist Govt was elected to be socialist in ideology and protect the interests of the working class. That trust was treated with contempt by and its fallout is toxic, and will contribute to whether of country with a 300 year history survives, because a significant proportion of those voters from Scotland are looking elsewhere.

Equally, I sometimes think those views cross the border into exactly the things you describe. They are not helped by certain elements of their political representitives (such as UKIP) saying ridiculously daft things.

This thread is a case in point for what's going wrong. 2 sides shouting at each other, not listening and refusing to believe that anything bar their opinion is correct.

Total change of point but it occured to me last night that we can't teach critical thought particularly well at school. Perhaps the powers that be are happy to keep it that way.
