Yes I would have been glad to meet up but unfortunately I left my job at the Gulf Hotel in 1979.

I suspect things have changed a tad there since then

No, but I can recommend a couple of good restaurants in Doha, the first is the Dhows on the waterfront (they serve a mixture of Indian, Arab and seafood...all quite excellent)...there is also an Indian restaurant at one of the larger hotels, think it might have been the Marriot (it is the one at the bottom end of the Corniche)...also superb.
