Development Squad... What's the point?

You obviously haven't seen the DS squad play because if you had you would realize that none of them are anywhere near good enough for what we need NOW but maybe in a couple of years. In hindsight which is great, the big mistake is letting Vincelot go out on loan as he is so versatile and would have been tiideal for a situation like today.

Whose mistake was that I wonder?

They probably never will be unless they get thrown in out of their comfort zone occasionally - and they need the incentive of knowing that they might just be called upon one day, now, not in two years time.

Maybe in a couple of years? So this Ben chap will have been developing for 5 years, Toby for 4. How much development time do grown players need?
