my birthday is 11 Dec and we always put the up the weekend closest to then.
will probably check the outside lights this weekend or next while the weather is nice enough to go up a ladder (well, not me my husband!)
It seems to be standard practice round here to put your outside lights up on the 1st Dec or the first weekend in Dec. We put our indoor stuff up during the 2nd week and everything comes down on New Years Day or just after cos by then they are driving everyone nuts! I havent spoken to anyone so far who is actually looking forward to Xmas, everyone is in bah humbug mode! It's quite a non-eventful time for us really what with football!
Some houses around here already have their lights on, indeed, some leave them up all year (although not switched on).
The lights are also up in North Street & Noth laine, although I don't think switched on. Was strange today, walking through Gardner St with the busy street cafe culture, the strong, warm, sunshine and the Xmas decs above.
If the month ends in ER its time for trees and decorations in The Philippines
The shopping malls will be playing christmas carols right now.
....I will be there for Dec and Jan with the wife and emigrating next year.
But I hate the meaning of Christmas its just and excuse for shops to make money, after all we have had Christmas adverts on TV since the middle of October.
