Why did he lie about not having any bank account? His first account said he was left without any account at all. Natwest had to speak up to say he had been offered a 'lesser account'.
TB you’re wasting an awful amount of time posting about this weirdo, is it really that important to you? 🥵

It is hilarious that those against cancel culture seemingly wanting people to be … errr … cancelled
I was under the impression it was Farage and his ilk that are opposed to cancel culture. The other side deny it exists, insisting most instances are repurcussions.

EDIT: Given the thumbs up and seeing further posts, I think I may have misread that post. I read it as criticising people who were critical of Farage, but on reflection now thinking it was intended as critical of farage for his calls for people to lose their job.

The entire board should not, and will not go. The share price would plummet and cause severe ripples.

She ballsed up, and rightly went.
The bloody bank shouldn't still exist.
We had the perfect opportunity to make an example of institutionalised corruption but instead decided to bail them out and keep them in existence so that women like this can earn huge bonuses. So that they can continue to offer a rapidly diminishing high street service and close branches right left and centre. So they could greedily loan billions out during Lockdown ( underwritten by the government ) without carrying out full due diligence and subsequently lose hundreds of millions to bogus companies, which they are now spending millions trying to recoup through nationwide investigative firms.
Its one greedy, corrupt, tawdry mess and our self-centred, polarised society has only itself to blame. We get the bankers and politicians we deserve. Sub-standard individuals not fit for purpose.

I'm not sure you can blame the banks for the Covid loans disaster, that was down to government incompetence as they set out the rules.

Can I just clarify, putting all the other stuff aside, Farage lost his Coutts because he wasn't rich enough and was offered a Natwest instead? So he hasn't been de-banked for his views?

All the other stuff that happened is wrong, and it's right that she goes, but wasn't the report that he lost his Coutts account because he was below the threshold technically correct?
The 36 page report from Coutts specifically says that he meets the bank's commercial criteria for having an account.

Played right into that ****s hands.

They should have come out right away and admitted to wrong doing and sad sorry, would have killed it right away

Now he has what he wants, attention and a cover up.
Farage is a bitter little man who has spent almost a lifetime being wrong. For once finally, he's a little bit right on something and boy, is he going to milk it !

He's stood on the tiniest little bit of Moral High Ground and now he wants mass resignations. Its always short bloke's isn't it ?

Why should his views not impact his custom? Many businesses drop people if they feel their views are not alligned with theirs....this is not new. There are many examples of this.
I can see it if they are bringing the business into disrepute, normally that would be a sponsorship deal or some paid role in a company. Farage to my knowledge has done none of those these, just a man who wants a bank account. Where do you draw the line?

What examples were you thinking of?

I hate Farage but this is a very slippery slope for banking. Extreme example, but what if your bank manager happened to be a Palace fan and took issue with something you posted on here? Would you be fair game for account closure? If the CEO of your water company didn’t like your politics could they get you cut off?
And this is the reason why this is important.

The fools who think this is not an issue because it’s Farage and they despise him are just morons IMO.

He was only offered a NatWest account after he went public. He was turned down by numerous other banks too - all for his political views/stance.

Imagine if you protested against, for example, an illegal war in Iraq and you went onto a black list of ‘un-desirables’ and your bank account was closed and you were denied a bank account in all other banks. How would you live/survive? How many places are now refusing cash and it’s only going to get worse.

(BTW, wait until we get a programmable CBDC and the government has the ability to control what you can spend your money on and where. If you think they won’t use it as a political tool, check out what the Canadian government did to the trucker protest last year when they froze back accounts of protestors).

Banks are there to provide banking services and unless your activity is illegal then they should not be allowed to close your bank account. What’s all this crap about ‘our values’ - your values are fiduciary responsibility to your shareholders to make a profit and not indulge in illegal activities.

Also, how many dodgy characters back with Coutts - you know, despots from around the world or criminals? Bet it’s a large amount.

This won’t end here and I’m fairly sure there will be reforms enacted.

This is pure spite from the remainers who are still sore that they lost, even though they had nearly the whole establishment supporting remain.

There’s quite a few. Kanye West and Adidas for example. Adidas stated his very public views are not aligned with theirs.

from page 1: "After the expiry of the mortgage with Coutts, NF would not be a criteria client, and we should set a glide path to exiting NF when that mortgage expires".

Exactly, very well put. Unfortunately he's an easy target as a middle age / middle class white male with the 'wrong' views. Coutts probably feared a backlash if he banked with them so they did what they could to get rid of them. The irony of the situation is that I guess many Coutts customer's are of a similar demographic who hold the same views as NF but aren't prominent public figures like he is.

On Sky this morning when he was asked this, he said he was offered a personal account by Nat West but it was a business account that was closed by Coutts and he has not been offered one of these by Nat West and 10 other banks (according to NF).

As an aside, he was asked by Kay Burley this morning how much he had in his Coutts account. He said he would answer if Burley said how much she had in her bank accounts. Needless to say, Burley declined to answer.

Even that is contradictory. In November 2022 he was within criteria limits, and in March they say he had been outside criteria limits for "some time". And then they stsart their 40 page farrago of criticism of various viewpoints that Coutts don't like, including (oddly) the view that then-Prince Charles was wrong to meet a Qatari minister and receive a suitcase of cash for his charity, and his opinion that Moslem clerics ought to be allowed to speak against same-sex marriage. The emphasis is very much on finding excuses to get rid of him, no matter how absurd.
