If he has been saying to the club all along I want to go and I wont sign a new contract what else is he supposed to do at this stage? I am truly amazed it has got to this stage. Having said that I do wonder if the player/agent and club actually talk to each other. I am surprized the club have let it come to this.

There has been nothing stopping him from slapping in a transfer request whilst this has dragged on...except maybe greed

as long as the papers are logged at the fa by 11pm the deal could still go ahead after that

Wish tweets worked on tapatak , would save me having to log in on a PC to find you've posted something that isn't critical info.

no offence like

This all day long.

Could people at least give an idea of whether the tweet they embed which can't be read on tapatalk is worth going through the serial grief of opening up a phone browser for. Especially on this or other transfer threads.

Wasn't the writing above the tweet enough of a clue?
"Never mind the M25, he'll be lucky if he can drive up the M23."

We've had players we didn't think we could afford to lose before, Lawrenson, Ward, Zamora, to name but three. We'll move on, Stephens isn't bigger than the club.

Very much this. The 3 players you've mentioned were head and shoulders above Stephens in terms of ability and effectiveness.

I don't get all the angst about him leaving, he's nowhere near being the stand out player in our squad and has never been a rock solid dependable midfielder, he's not critical to our success, he didn't sign a new contract and £7+ million is a lot of dosh for someone with less than a year left when we've got an excellent replacement.

Stephens will probably end up being just another PL journeyman at best like Barnes/Ulloa or Bridcutt/Buckley at worst.

Or maybe he thought the club would accept one of the 6/7 bids for him? Now they haven't he has requested to leave. Seems reasonable to me. If this has come as a surprise to the club they must be bonkers.

:dunce: That is EXACTLY what he is. No more DEPENDABLE centre midfielder in the division.

Well, time will tell on that. Our record without him last season was bobbins.

I can but agree with you ..the thought of Sidwell partnering Kayal as first choice with all due respect to SS doesn't inspire me with confidence

You know what, people moan and whine about being kept in the dark and how bhafc is not our club any more - yet our chairman and saviour travels to a micky mouse cup match on a Tuesday night by train and happily chats to fans who have equally made the effort the travel to the game.

On the day when our chances of promotion this season could be decided things like this make me glad bhafc is my club.

True i was suprised to see him there to be honest , just shows how much he supports the club from top to bottom , also saw plastic bag man for his zillionth game if anybody ever deserved a free season ticket for the rest of his life it's him .

It didn't work away at Newcastle. It is whether it works at home to Brentford?

Could someone precis for me what's happening? I haven't time to wade through all this thread and any separate query as the story evolves will simply be merged into this all-purpose 'Dale Stephens dustbin thread' by some Nazi mod.

EDIT: Just seen the (removed) 'Dale Stephens asks for a transfer' thread title on the main board.

Just about to get very spicy as Hull are now in for Stephens too. I would love to sell him to Hull just to annoy the ginger prince and teach them a lesson for making so many derisory bids!!!

We've turned down another Burnley bid today.
Stephens hands in a transfer request, we reject it.
Stephens videoing driving off from the training ground while training was continuing. (Apparently)
Hull apparently back in to sign him

I am a little confused about 84 pages regarding Dale Stephens, he doesn't deserve it.

(I just added to it, d'oh!)

been a bit busy with ''actual work'' so not really had time to read through this thread recently. I get the jist that Stephens apparently left the ground or training. If that all then so what. I think they are not training today. Their days off vary from week to week.

I still don't think he is leaving. I haven't been speaking to anyone so I don't know but if I was CH or TB I wouldn't want him at the ground or the training ground either. I would want him at home with his phone switched off away from all media speculation if I wasn't going to be selling him.

Perhaps we are reading too much into things. If someone tells you a house is haunted, you look for ghosts whether you believe in them or not.
