To be fair the Tour of Austria in GB colours is pretty lightweight. I think you were right to be offering advice
How's this for a quandary?
I have just printed off my £1000 cycle to work voucher.
The bike I want isn't released until mid December, and even that isn't confirmed.
But I could get a pretty good, albeit not THE bike, tomorrow.
I'm going to try and be patient, but Christmas seems a long way away.

Finally completely happy with the Zefal R30 mudguards.
I had such little clearance on the back by the seat post that I was getting some slight friction rub. After lots more fannying around I could see exactly why one reviewer said he had to make some holes in the front end of the rear guard so he could then zip-tie it to the seat post. So out came a little screwdriver, heated over the gas cooker and two holes neatly burnt through instantly. Zip-tie threaded through, attached to seat post, and Voilá!.... mudguard lifted away from tyre by just a few more mils and now there's no movement whatsoever and definitely no rubbing.
Would I recommend these mudguards?....I'd echo word for word what was said in the review I'm talking about: http://road.cc/content/review/105264-zefal-shield-r30-road-mudguard-set
Nice mudguards, but you need the patience of a saint and a bit ingenuity if you're to get them fitted so they work properly. Either that or you get lucky on your bike geometry perhaps.

I wonder why Shimano seem to have a bit of a monopoly on groupsets on so many new bikes?
No matter what one of those you go for you're saddled with 105 fishing tackle. Seems a bit of a let down.

Spending other people's money is always good fun. I think I'd go for the Cube as it looks bigger!
I know folk point and laugh at the fishing tackle 105 stuff, but I think the world of mine. I think hydraulic disc brakes are where it's at for these bikes if you are riding in a tonne of traffic. I look enviously at other riders with those brakes when I'm on my London trundle in the wet.

17km mountain time trial at the end which, if they end at Cote 2000 (above Megeve, 17.6km from Sallanches to Cote 2000), is a bit under 1,000m of climbing. 5.8% average - that's going to hurt!
I don't have a problem with fishing tackle on those bikes.
I'm not a fan of 105 groupset and FSA chainring.
It's fortunate the Cannondale is the one Glyn has and the one I like least, as I don't like it just enough to not 'marshmallow' buy it, and then feel really let down by it.
I'm also having trouble finding a local Felt stockist, which again is lucky for my LBS and Cube.
