Ah, but it also states...

"There isn’t a manager specific category so it will be up to you to find a way to place a manager in to your team."

Also it then states this...

"Category 5 – Has been the top goal scorer in a top-flight season.
Any player who has finished as the top scorer in any division that is the highest in its country. E.g – Premiership, La Liga, Bolivian Professional Football League, Lativan Premiership etc. Obviously managers cannot be entered in to this category."

But surely, if an individual fits this category and they have then managed, then you could field them. They would be judged on their managerial record in the final scenario, but surely they'd qualify to get on the plane this way?
Rohana what say you?

THATS IT. I'm getting rid of categories if we do another one of these!

Managers are judged on their managerial career, so if they were a top goal scorer as a player that would not count.

Rohana cleared this up earlier. To fill a category with a manager, he has to have filled its requirements as a manager.

Options for selecting a manager:
Cat.1 Managed a single club for 200 games
Cat.2 Managed a country for 70 games
Cat.3 Managed a country but never at a World Cup
Cat.4 Currently managing a club outside the top 5 leagues stated
Cat.5 n/a
Cat.6 Managed in 4 countries
Cat.7 Been manager of a club when they were mathematically relegated
Cat.8 Managed a club in a semi-final match or a final of the European Cup
Cat.9 n/a
Cat.10 Managed two different clubs to a league title
Cat.11 n/a
Cat.12 Managed a team in a game against Brighton

OK, I accept that ruling.

I was just trying to determine whether I could put them on the plane due to the playing career, but then have their management career judged when it came to the final rounds.

Noooo! The categories are brilliant, though maybe the manager bit has caused more confusion than anticipated (I know I tried to find a few loopholes myself)...

Another vote in favour of the categories, Rohana. I've enjoyed the strategic element of trying to guess whether rivals will be looking to fill a difficult category or simply pick the best player available.

If I was to get rid of categories then it would be replaced by something else. I'll message a few people and ask them what they think of the other ideas I've got going on nearer the end of this draft.

Quite a lot of things need to be decided, but as I said, I'll discuss it once all the picks have been made.

Agreed. That's all I'm trying to do. Find loopholes. You see, I had this mad idea that I'd field Ryan Giggs as my Player Manager thus giving my team an extra player. It looks like that won't fly.

That's fair enough, I've really enjoyed the categories but it'd probably be just as fun with other guidelines/stipulations to try and stick to (whatever form they may take).

Um...wasn't he drafted way back near the beginning?

This, you get the mad dash for the top players in the first couple of round then its all about the strategy and research. The manager idea was great but it seems to have caused the most confusion

Another one in favour of keeping the categories element of these.

Splendid. It's just that as I've clearly built the best team under this system I have a certain affection for the present rules

I love the catergories - makes it a bit more tactical - although maybe there should be a wildcard category so that you can add anyone to

For my penultimate pick, I'm going to be drafting the brains behind the whole operation.

He's not simply a manager, he's THE manager.

He qualifies under Category 6 (after some player reshuffling on my part) after managing at club level in Mexico, Spain, Argentina and France whilst also taking charge of the Argentina and Chile national sides.

He's probably going to be one of the least decorated managers to be drafted, but as David May's career proved, medals don't always equate to quality.

He's renowned for the style of play he encourages with his teams and is widely credited as transforming the Chilean team into the formidable opponents they are today, using the high pressure play and fearless attacking that have become his trademarks.

His incredible tactical knowledge and willngness to share his philosophy often lead to mammoth press conferences, with him answering every question in the room if he's given the chance.

He's been described by Pep Guardiola as 'the best manager in the world', is known by the nickname 'Loco' and is the only man I've wanted in charge since this draft began.

I'm delighted to announce my manager to be;

Marcelo Bielsa

moggy, your go old chap

I've enjoyed the categories as well! I wasn't moaning, I was just trying to bend the rules for a certain manager!

My biggest issue was the time taken the last few rounds!!
