Very seldom I can say something like this... But I spent a couple of days with Matt Jansen at the Monaco Grand Prix a few years ago. Really good bloke and very intelligent. He was on £10k a week at Palace in 1998 and got to £40k a week at Blackburn!! Also, had the nous to invest his cash from day one and he's seriously wedged. But as he also pointed out, he's only real weakness was spunking money on fast cars and bikes (oh dear).

He'd just been released from Bolton and I said he should come down to the Theatre of Trees - but he said the missus wouldn't fancy it.
