I'm trying to copy a CD I have bought to my hard drive, but it will only play on the player that loads from the CD.

Does anyone know how to get around the protection so Windows Media player can see the tracks?

Pain in the arse when I've legitimately bought the music and can't listen to it how I want to.

I turn the autorun off for comp so that it doesn't detect its copy protected

Only way i can get music i have legally acquired onto my mp3 player :nono:

You're generally screwed on Windows; however a Mac or a Linux/BSD/BeOS install on a PC can rip close to anything (including CDs too damaged for windows to read)

Hold down either the shift or control key (sorry, can't remember which) while it's loading up.

Turn off autorun or hold down the shift key. Both should stop the autoloading protection. Failing that, limewire, shareaza, etc and get the tracks from the internet.
