"Instead he is heading to Brighton, who are ironically set to lose Lewis Dunk to either QPR - who have had a £1.75m bid rising to £2m rejected"

What?!

I don't suppose we would necessarily expect the Shrewsbury newspaper to have followed Dunk's story but they do say that Connor Goldson was headed to Brighton today for a medical which relates to this thread.

Don't shoot the messenger !

Do you think he will replace Dunk?...

Yes. He doesn't seem the type that would move to be fourth choice.

To clarify, I think he'll have moved with the premise of being backup to Greer and Hunemeier this year before potentially moving into a regular starting berth.

Let's hope he is as good as the reports suggest and that he can be a good replacement for Dunk.

Shrewsbury Town can confirm that defender Connor Goldson has completed a move to Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old, who joined Town at 14 years of age, was offered his first professional contract with the Club midway through his youth scholarship.

Goldson, who was the longest-serving player at the Club before completing a move to Brighton, made 107 appearances in total for the Shrews, scoring eight goals.

The centre-back enjoyed two promotions with Shrewsbury from League Two to League One - one last season and one in the 2011/12 campaign.

Last season, Goldson won the Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year awards at Shrewsbury Town and was also named in the 2014/15 PFA Team of the Year for League Two.

Shrewsbury Town's chief executive Matt Williams said: "I think the deal we’ve got is in the best interests of Shrewsbury Town and it helps the player to establish himself further up the ladder before we get there.

"From the Club’s point of view you always want the best possible deal for the club and I believe we have got that.

"We were not aware of Brighton’s interest before the start of the week, and it was Connor declared himself unfit for selection on Monday evening.

"We would have liked him to have been available for the Chesterfield game but these things happen in football.

"It’s a credit to the Club that he came through the youth team here to cut his teeth in the professional game.

“It just shows if you have skill, the right work ethic and make the right decision you will ultimately get your rewards.

"He leaves with our best wishes and thanks."

Shrewsbury Town would like to thank Connor for his fantastic service to the Club over the years and wish him all the best for the next chapter of his career.
