Who, if we had sat down with him (CH) at the end of last season for a review and discussed a more adventurous style of football, backing him up in the summer transfer window, would probably have us in the top half now.

Perhaps that review did take place sometime during the latter half of the season, and CH didn't/couldn't/wouldn't take it on board. We'll never know.

We're in need of someone who's a specialist at breaking up the oppositions play, Someone who's a bit of a nutter, grabs the bull by the horns, riles up the opposition and gets the the team into the fighting gear. Stephens doesn't do this. He's a neat player but just hasn't got that nastiness we need n the middle.

I think Yves could become that player. He's high energy and loves a chase and a tackle.

Potter is getting a-lot of blame and admittedly he's making some very poor decisions but the clubs recruitment has to take more of the responsibility surely? As pointed out in the match thread we've lost real leaders from the starting 11 in Murray, Bruno, and AK and the replacements have failed to bring in leadership or any aggression.

.

Potter let AK go

Potter refuses to play Murray.

Ask yourself this since we have been a PL side we haven’t signed one player that’s been worth the admission fee alone. Used to be Knockhaert in recent times for me guys a match winner on his day. Trossard seems disappointingly disinterested most of the time.

I'be been trying to bite my tongue (or keyboard) this morning, but sadly I think most of the comments on this thread are spot on.

With a couple of notable exceptions, we have a squad of journeyman footballers, and what's worse, they seem to have little appetite for a fight. The spirit of "Together" pissed off about the same time Knocky went to Fulham. We moan about having no strikers but we loaned two out in the Summer. We have no leaders on the pitch bar Dunk. And Potter clearly still has no idea what his best team is; I would hate to play for him, in one week (probably at RB), then out the next. Unless you are Webster of course.

I'm all for sticking with the Team, but you'd have to be blind not to accept that It's all a bit of a shambles at the mo.

Nailed it.

The laughable thing is how we all lambast Palace for throwing huge money at players who are too old and yet there they are again comfortably staying up whilst our smart approach of investing in the future on unheard of useless overseas noddy league players is about to cost us £140m in lost prem league income. To think they have Cahill and we have spunked £20m on Webster which we will never recoup.

Right again!

We've not actually made one signing that is proven in a top european division in three years. Possibly Gross who'd just been relegated from Bundesliga. The experiment has massively failed.

Montoya played for Barcelona winning the league and champions league.

Montoya played 45 times in 5 years at Barca largely being kept out by Alves so yes he was part of the squad but not an integral part of the first team. That’s not to say he is rubbish but I would not say he was champions league pedigree either

Some good news, it seems that we are on the point of signing Mooy on a permanent, according to the Argus
