Have spent too many years in the punters graveyard that is Cheltenham. Ridiculously tough to back winners even if you study the form til you're blue in the face, unlike, say, at Royal Ascot where the form runs true. So this year I'm just blindly backing all the Walsh horses in singles and combinations that he rides for his guvnor Nicholls. The same combo that got me a £250 return for a £40 stake on Saturday. It's as good a game plan as any IMHO.

Garde Champetre in the X country is bet of the day. Can't be having Monkerhostin and you might want to remember his reaction when seeing the Grand National fences before you back him tomorrow. Don't worry about weight for Garde - it does not matter when they dawdle around for the first 3 miles.

Somersby, Punjabi (place) and Dunguib already backed for tomorrow although I fancy General Miller in the Supreme to get a place. The Package looks a solid bet in the William Hill.

Good luck all.

Garde Champetre and Nina Carberry are 8-for-8 over cross-country tracks. Can't look at a fact like that and not back them at any odds against, never mind 9-4. As Hannibal says, the weight is irrelevant, it's all about the course.

Also think Quevega is much too big at 2-1-ish given that she was 5-4 a week ago. Ladbrokes' odds compilers got a report that she'd worked horribly on Saturday and that fed into the Betfair market too, but other firms have people at the Mullins yard and they didn't hear anything at all.
Voler La Vedette is clearly useful but Ruby Walsh was telling Mullins to run Quevega in the Champion just a few weeks ago. Also worth remembering that No One Tells Me is not a million miles away from the favourite on the book, particularly at two and a half miles, but is six times the price on Betfair.
