It’s a great signing to be fair. Doesn’t really matter about the money involved- they desperately need some quality and bite in midfield and he has that in spades. The Caicedo thing was never likely. Does make you wonder why they weren’t in for Biss.

Agree completely.
Many of the names that they've been linked with (or sounded out) of late have been dreadful. But this is a signing that is potentially transformational. They've paid over the odds, undoubtedly, but it could have the effect of them becoming attractive to future signings.
They need a CM, someone that can protect the CBs, pick up the ball in their own half and distribute it on, exude calm, snuff out danger, have some nous. He delivers all of that.
