No thread yet? I can't find one...

The first round kicked off last night. A few things of note from a quick scan of results...

- Carl Rushworth kept a clean sheet as Swansea beat Northampton 3-0.
- Jeremy Sarmiento came off the bench in the 74th minute, but was unable to rescue West Brom who were knocked out 2-1 at Stoke.
- Southampton can concentrate on the league after losing 3-1 at Gillingham.
- Ditto Watford who lost to Stevenage on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

There are a few more ties tonight which will be followed by the second round draw, where Premier League clubs enter the competition.

Other than the big clubs competing in Europe that is. As such Albion can sit and watch until we enter in the third round...

I know I shouldn't.
Just by writing this I know I'm actually handing the trophy to the northerners...

But....

But....

... We could play our first game in the tournament AFTER palace have been knocked out.

That would momentarily make me feel so-so.

Leeds 1-0 down to Shrewsbury.

In other amusing The Leeds United news, they were all set to sign Max Aarons from Norwich today. The player was en route to Leeds to undergo his medical and sign the contract, when Bournemouth made a sneaky late offer and in a Pritchard-esque manoeuvre, he turned the car round and headed for Dorset.

Leeds fans are FUMING, although quite a few are now claiming they never rated him anyway

yes its such a difficult decision, Yorkshire in the Championship or Dorset in the Premier league.

Strangely, the The Leeds United fans can't seem to grasp that, presumably on the basis of their perceived massive-ness compared to PLB.

I remember getting excited about getting a bye into the second round. These are truly remarkable times.
