It's quite clear that Labour are fighting for a majority whilst the Tories are prepared to weasel their way in by any means necessary

But that is a flawed strategy as the unstoppable surge of the SNP makes a Labour majority an impossibility this time around. That's 50 seats gone before they even start. How they need a master strategist like Phillip Gould and an attack dog like Alistair Campbell at a time like this. The teams around both Cameron and Milliband seem very light in the pants compared to the big beasts of elections past.

Solid by Cameron played to conservative strengths Ed started on the back foot got a feeling this is going to be 30min of uncomfortable facial expressions

Cameron walked it. Milliband was rounded on by the ladies in the audience. Muttered and stuttered.

Cameron is so much better at avoiding answers than Ed who seems to dig himself deeper. I fear if ToryBoy gets in, a lot of disappointed voters will soon realise they were sold a pup. With Ed, you know what you're getting. Cameron should sell cars.

You probably made up your mind he was going to get a mauling before he took the stage.

Not at all - he's been quite an accomplished performer, I think, in these sort of things so far.

And, to be fair, he got a lot stronger tonight after that very weak start.

When is Miliband and Labour going to move on from their "chip on the shoulder" politics.

that is Labour politics. Blair experimented with a move away, it seemed to help.
