Will Buckley has been ruled out of Albion contention for the foreseeable future after it emerged that the flying winger picked up a new injury last week.
Buckley, 22, had recently returned to fitness after being plagued with a series of hamstring problems this season, but is now sidelined again after he strained his groin climbing out of a monster truck at a stunt show in Guildford last Thursday.
The loss of the £1m summer signing from Watford is another blow for Gus Poyet's injury-hit squad, but the Brighton manager was philosophical about the news. "It's disappointing for Will, for me, for the fans, but its just one of those things we have to get on with. Will Buckley still has a big part to play this season, but you ask me when is this, then I will have to say to you I don't know. Go on, ask me."
"When is this ?" I asked. "I don't know" replied the Albion boss, and went on; "Will was climbing down from the monster truck in Guildford at the redneck stunt show when he slipped on a step, jagged his leg and strained a groin muscle. Thats it".
"Jarred" I said.
"What ?"
"Jarred. You said he jagged his leg, I think you meant he jarred it".
"Well look, whatever, it's knackered his groin now isn't it. Luckily Spazzer (Matt Sparrow) was there to help him back to his Renault Megane, but if you ask me when he is back, I'll just tell you again. I don't know".
Adam El Abd and Will Hoskins came through last nights win at Derby unscathed, and are in contention for Saturdays Championship match at the Amex against strugglers Nottingham Forest, who have slipped into the bottom three following a 4-0 defeat at home by Leeds.
A monster truck yesterday, similar to the one that injured Buckley.
