The Royal British Legion approves of the commercialisation of their appeal. They licence many products, such as poppy scarves, necklaces, earrings, rugby shirts, cups etc etc.
The income from paper poppies nowhere near covers the money they need to care for veterans, so they had to branch out.

As for being a chav for having a poppy on our car, Postman Pat, I'm proud to be a chav.

I must admit I didnt realize that the income from the Poppy Appeal fell short of their needs, obviously due to rising costs as I wouldnt think the population figures change much as many from WWII pass on others from recent conflicts replace them as being in need.

The RBL doesn't just look after those injured in conflicts, but any veteran. For instance, I have a chronic illness, and if I needed help, I could apply for something.
Say for instance I lost my mobility, I could apply for a grant for a stairlift, or a mobile scooter etc.

I bought a knock off badge on my way to the Everton game. I paid £3 for it and the guy claimed that £1 of it would be donated to the British Legion. I didn't believe him and donated another £3 in the charity pot at the bank a few days later. I just wanted the badge to show my support.

I don't buy the paper poppies anymore, they don't last more than an hour before I lose it, and I can't be bothered to keep transferring it between coats and jumpers.

Now I stick a few quid in and go for the wristband, I can wear it all year then and show my support that way.

I guess that makes me more superior than the paper poppy wearers, but less superior than the pin wearers, but probably less chavy than the ones with them on their cars.

I haven't seen the wristband (yet) .... I buy a paper and a metal poppy usually

I received my e-mail to say that they were back in stock, on Monday. Went straight to the website and ordered 2 (without any of the hassle that other people have reported), and they were delivered on Tuesday. Fantastic service and for a good cause.

Why would you feel the need to proclaim your support for both the poppy appeal and the Albion at the same time?

Not for me Clive...

What a generous bunch we must be if they keep going out of stock.
I wonder how many PaLarse ones they have sold?
Probably do better if their's was attached to a Caravan Club badge.

Why did you feel the need to mention that?

Because it is true and I would have got slated had I not done so and it was thought that it was to be for me. Didnt have time to phone the shop, or rather left it too late to find out if they had them in the shop. I will do so tomorrow morning.
