That is why he went to Reading according to his interview on SCR! No mention of Falmer! Would he have stayed if the club invested in the team?

Ho can you you be ambitious when you have no money, no ground and the ground you use at the mo costs a fortune

You get a Chaiman with money to invest in the short-term - like JM has at Reading. When he took over they were getting shit crowds at Elm Park!

That worries me. Coppell has been round the block, and if he says the club is not progressive and lacks ambition, then he should know what he's talking about. Obviously he knows the situation with the ground, which we couldn't have pushed much harder for, so it must be something else.

So what does DK do, look in the Yellow pages for the section under Millionaire Football Club Investors? Seriously how many sugar daddies actually exist? Since Wigan and Cardiff departed this division there are none outside the top two leagues. The rest are made up of businessmen who by hook or by crook are trying to run clubs on business principles on limited budgets. Until we have a stadium that can be filled with more than 7000 people we are reliant on running a very tight ship. Furthermore, with the new rules deducting 10 points for clubs going into administration, speculating to succeed is no longer an option.

Perhapse he is talking about the lack of the 2000 extra seats that we were told would be installed last year, and negative investment in the playing side?

Isnt it the job of the manager to inspire and lead the club to greater glory? And please show me a club that has no ambition. We all, even Leyton fans, have the ambition of playing in the top flight against the best in the land and europe. Its the fans that are the club.

Brighton lack money & planning permission, not ambition. If you lacked ambition you'd be looking to build a cheap Scunthorpe style ground. The fact of the matter is you don't own a ground and therefore you have very few assets. If Brighton got into debt the banks would pull the plug as you'd have no last resort way of raising cash. Even if a planning application acceptance notice dropped through your chairman's letterbox tomorrow, a new ground would still be two or probably three years away. Until then you still need to keep a very tight control of finances. If you want a more high profile analogy look at Arsenal. Does their current enforced lack of spending indicate a lack of ambition?

Did anyone else hear this interview and has the quote been quoted accurately?

I heard the interview and he said that Reading are an ambitious club - he didn't say anything derogitory about the Albion.

Of course he is going to talk up his new club in order to impress the fans and make a good impression with the staff and players

i have sympathy for SC.

yes we want a new ground. but, we need to invest in the playing side which we simply do not do enough. remember, he is the manager, his concerns are in the team not the ground!!
