Albion have been boosted by the return to fitness of Liam Bridcutt and Will Buckley for tomorrow’s clash against Barnsley at The Amex.
Bridcutt has recovered from a knock to the head and dizzy spell which forced him off to hospital in the first half at Watford on Tuesday.
Buckley has trained without any recurrence of the hamstring trouble which led to his withdrawal during the warm-up at Birmingham last Saturday.
Bridcutt is fundamental to Albion’s passing game as the deep-lying midfielder, while the availability of right winger Buckley adds variety to the attacking options.
Left-back Marcos Painter is also expected to recover from a knock sustained at Watford but on-loan right-back Gonzalo Jara Reyes is a major doubt due to the knee injury he suffered at Birmingham.
Jara Reyes, like Buckley before him, pulled out in the warm-up at Watford, so Albion will not be taking any chances with the Chilean.
Manager Gus Poyet said: “We are not going to have anyone trying to see how they feel. We do one thing or the other, so it is going to be straightforward.”
Jara Reyes’ place will be taken by Romain Vincelot, assistant manager Mauricio Taricco or Inigo Calderon if Poyet recalls the rested Lewis Dunk in the centre of defence.
Thigh injury victims Vicente and Will Hoskins are still sidelined. Albion will be hoping to get them fit during the international break for the visit to leaders Southampton later this month.
