Wind up or not, what's the big deal. Find a boxing ring to train at and start there, then find a time you can use the gym without interference. Sounds good to me.

Who is going to be scoring the fight ? And can you be sure of their impartiality ?

I just saw it as a chance to win some easy dosh. My friends don't think I will win, so they have bet £500 that I lose. The guy I'm fighting, SeagullTim, is more than up for the challenge.

It's just a bit of fun and something to train for/get fit for. He's a bit bigger than me now, with a lot of extra fat/weight than me so need to beef up! It's being arranged for 6 months time if its possible to sort it out properly...

How is the professional gambling career going? If you are resorting to this for money there are far better things to be doing :moo:

Right, I've recently arranged to fight my friend for a large sum of money.

This is just between two friends, and we will have another friend reffing. Any ideas where we could legally do it? Are there boxing rings or areas to hire which would allow us to fight?

Also, my friend would only agree to do the fight without headwear. Is this safe? Neither has boxed properly before and I thought we'd have to wear headwear as it was obviously not a professional fight!
What you're going to both have to do is join a boxing gym. You go to a few training sessions and then you have to take a medical and get a 'card'. Providing both of you are roughly the same ability your coach may let you have a match, probably as part of a regular bill rather than as a one-off fight. This way there will be doctors etc present but your friend will NOT be allowed to ref. There is an upper age limit for legal bouts in Britain (I think it's 36), but as I'm guessing you're about 15 that won't apply to you.

That's the legal way, however I'm sure you could find an unlicenced, unscrupulous promoter to do it for cash in a warehouse somewhere. Failing that just do it yourselves.

You f***ing idiot. No you prob won't be able to do this legally and even if you could you would be a disgrace. This is not a sport any old wanker can climb into a ring and do properly, it takes a lot of training which you clearly don't have. I hope you end up killing each other you pair of tits.

This has got to be a wind up shirley. Why the f*** would you both want to fight each other? Could you not just get your cocks out and sort it that way? I'd have to say that my friends are worth more than £500 to me.

Of course they won't do it properly. It'll last 10 minutes because fighting is incredibly tiring, and neither will have the strength or technique to land a knockout blow. Neither is trained to fight, or even had a fight by the sounds of it, so little chance of them really hurting each other. Absolute waste of time to join a boxing gym or try and rent a ring just for this.

I don't see why people are making such a big deal out of it, the gayest thing is that he had to come on here and ask in the first place

Like I said, we used to play after school in my mates' garage, with some cheap gloves from sports soccer. Rules were 3 minute rounds, roughly 3/4 contact and no massive swings. We weren't trying to knock each other out, it was more like amatuer boxing where you try to land quick blows. It's a matter of trust to punch your mate in the face and then shake hands at the end, nobody ever fell out.

Nibble, you've admitted on here that you've punched someone in the head before, so what's the difference

I'm sure you'll have to do this in a registered gym under supervision, surely anything else would be deemed illegal boxing?? So my advice is, that if you do it outside a gym without safety protocols in place, be carefull cos your prob get tugged, especially telling everyone on here! Even worse, if one of you gets hurt badly, the other could be royaly screwed! Proceed with caution.

Cannot disagree. though any time I've had physical altercations with anyone have been in a very different circumstance. Apart from when I used to box (in a very low level and as a sport) I wouldn't wnt to go around fighting folks, especially a mate.
