Oh great, another game too late for the boys to go to. This really does make the child's season ticket less value with every switch to midweek / eves.

Q. What have my options got in common?
1. Travel back to London the same night but risk missing the last train (at 22:12) if the game overruns by too much for any reason.
2. Drive down and back.
3. Find a cheap hotel or B&B and stay over on the Friday night.

You might just scrape getting onto a train to Southampton which arrives there at 23.00 on the way back, but the connecting Southern train will only run as far as Barnham, with no connecting trains to anywhere else due to the time.
Only other way by train coming home would be via Clapham Junction to pick up the 1AM Victoria - Brighton Vomit Express at Clapham, gets into Brighton at 2.20AM - 4 hours later.
