He's right, but he has never apologised for poo gate, an episode that dragged our club's name through the mire. He knew what happened, yet kept his mouth shut when a simple explanation could have put an end to the matter.

And there's the rub. How can one possibly respect a man who knew exactly what had happened, yet allowed the 'mystery' to be discussed, to Brighton's detriment. Even having done that, he could have partly redeemed himself and his reputation by coming clean and apologising - but no, that was too decent a thing for him to manage.
