We were discussing this last night, and couldn't remember a fair whack of recent players of the season for the Albion.

I know Tim Carder's book leads up to 1993 (bloody hell - 19 years out of date now. Come on, Tim...), but is there a list anywhere - preferably complete - of Albion Player of the Season?

I've looked and can't find it, meaning it's probably in an obvious place.

Cheers in advance. :)

Recent winners have been Bridcutt, El Abd, Elphick, Whing and Butters, I think.

I wonder if we are unusual in that - you expect people to almost automatically go for the goal scorers?

Who won it in 1997 & 98, the most dismal seasons in history to be an Albion fan?

Did Peter Smith ever get it?

Worthing
1979 - I think was Mark Lawrenson, he'd broken his arm by that time but I seem to recall him winning it.

1980 - Possibly Steve Foster, who forced his way into the team early on.

I seem to also recall Kurt Nogan and Terry Connor winning it.

The most remarkable example of this was surely in 1977 when a certain Peter Ward broke the club scoring record with 36 goals. The Albion fans voted their player of the season that year......Brian Horton.
Does this indicate, that over the years, we have become pretty good judges at who has influenced the season the most. Can I hasten to say, a little bit more discerning than some clubs fans, who might fall into the trap of voting for the obvious..i.e a player who has banged in a fair few goals.
( or am I giving us too much credit?
