It's been a while since we've come up against your city chums, Bladesman. How are they getting on? Still galactically massive? I presume they'll be requesting in excess of 10,000 tickets for our forthcoming FA Cup game.

I just hope we can pull off a giantkilling.

If you leave at the final whistle from the away end, i'd be very surprised if you get on a Lewes train till 5-15 ish. You will be held in the queue on the zig zig slope to get onto the platform.

There are trains at 1721, 31, 40, 51, and 1801 I have never waited for any train after the 1731 which I caught on one occasion and usually get the 1721 which takes 7 mins so at Lews before 5.30. Hence being at Hickstead at 5,45

If you chose to go to Lewes there is parking at the station and my brother goes to Heathrow and he reckons it is the quickest exit. Quicker than Mill Road as there are plenty of trains to Lewes and you will be there while still waiting for a bus and rather than go across country go back onto the A27 and A23. Using this route and leaving as the players leave the pitch he drops me for wife to pick me up at The Castle Hickstead at 5.45 and we usually have a couple of minutes wait for wife.

What’s your opinions - are the queues for the bus back to Mill
Lane or the queues for the train to Lewes bigger post game?

The queues aren't that bad. We're in West Upper right by an exit. We leave once the final whistle has gone and probably end up with a 20/25 minute wait for a bus to Mill Rd. It's up to you, if you are desperate to save yourself 10 minutes by rushing off then fine. Hardly think 10 minutes is going to make that much difference considering the length of the rest of your journey.

So 5-21 from Falmer, 5-30 at Lewes, 10 minutes to get to the car and out of the tiny exit, 5 minutes to get from Lewes to Hickstead.
Do they give you a police escort or does the Sussex Police Helicopter give you a lift.

Would respectfully suggest that that is a little misleading. To get back to the P&R pick up after the game you exit the away end and turn left and walk down past half the east stand then right where you'll see people queuing to go up the steps towards the buses. Basically, when the bus drops you at the ground you walk down some steps and that's where you'll queue to go back. The first steps you see after you leave the away end are in fact only for those on coaches or the disabled (there's a lift there).

You're quite correct, and have described it much better than I did.

To the OP, considering it's the last Saturday before Christmas, I'd stay clear of Lewes and use Mill Road.

Good point too. The Council House car park would be a better bet than Lewes town centre. I’ve never seen more than half a dozen cars on it on a match day. There must be more than 100 spaces. Black Horse and bus stop only two minutes’ walk away.

If you are happy to leave 5 minutes early (or at the final whistle, but literally RUN back) then you can more or less drive straight out. If you wait until the end of the game, then walk back to you car in a leisurely fashion, you'll be wait up to 45 minutes to get out onto the A27.

Haha nice to see they've rubbed off on you. They are a totally different breed to us Blades. If you speak to them they honestly think they are on par with Chelsea, Spurs, Everton etc. Totally delusional bunch. They've not graced the top flight in over 20 years now!

They are currently at war with Sheffield City Council after they have had to shut off part of theu ground, as it's once again been deemed unsafe.

They are also at war with the EFL for breaking FFP, by ballsing up their ground sale and creating a load of fake companies to 'sponsor' them.

Of course, none of it is their fault, everyone is just choosing to pick on the cos of how massive they are. They make Leeds fans seem humble that lot!*

They are practically foaming at the mouth seeing how well we've done, with out spending barely any money and bypassing them from 6 years in League One in the process. All while they've wasted literally tens of millios and have gone from a mid table*Championship*team to a...mid table Championship team!

Not great to be honest. 10 minute walk from stadium to the car park and depending where you're parked it can be 30/45 minutes. Equally it could be 10 minutes if you're near an exit and get a lucky break. It's better than the worst of the Bridge car park though unless you're really unlucky!

Been in here 3 times. The first two times I left at final whistle, walked fast and drove straight out. The third time I got cocky and decided to take a piss after the game and strolled down. Big mistake. Took me an hour to get out.

Hi All,

Blades fan in peace here. Looking forward to finally visiting*your new stadium on Sat, it's been a long time coming. Should be a great game between 2 really strong sides.

Just wanted to pick your brains on parking options for Sat.

I'm staying in Worthing*on Friday and will be driving to the game from there on Sat, and will be straight back up to Sheffield once the game has finished.

As it appears from a google search parking near the stadium is none existent, would you say the park and ride bus is the best option, or a park*and ride train from Lewes? If the bus, which is the best option for parking? Mill Lane or the Racecourse?

Not really worried pre-game, just what's the quickest way to get back to the car and head north after full time.

Coming from Worthing, best coming off the A27 at Hove/Devils Dyke jct, and park up in an around one of the local roads e.g. Tongdean lane, then walk to the park and ride and get on the at the top of Mill Lane. Otherwise you’ve got to go down the A27, come off at Patcham, and enter Mill Roads one way system from the east. And that can take you an extra 20-30 mins even because congestion and risk not being able to park because it’s already full up by 1.15/1.30. All extra stress, especially if you’re not local and in a panic about where you can now leave a car and get to the game because there’s absolutely no street parking around the ground. Anyway, If you take my advice, don’t leave too late as the buses coming up Mill Lane are often full and can only pick up a few of the increasing queue at the top of Mill Lane as many others walk up to the top likewise from surrounding area to catch the bus to the Amex. The other advantage is that when you return post game, you won’t have to queue to get out of Mill Lane which can be up to 45mins depending on when you leave. Certainly left games on final whistle and not left Mill Lane until 606 is coming on the airwaves!

Sometimes we manage the train before the 5.21. We are in Lower West so the walk to the station is quite quick so much so that brother in lawe whop comes with us goes to the toilet and catches us up before we reach the station.

Its lucky that you get down to the platform so quick, especially as so many people leave the ground early to beat the queues.
Then you manage to get on the train right by the door so that you can get off first to be the first car out of the tiny car park exit.
Then all the traffic lights are green to get out of Lewes, and despite all the traffic around the Falmer and Mill Road/ A23 roundabout which has
left the Amex,you manage to make the journey from Lewes to Hickstead in 10 minutes.
