:lolol:

India claimed a 19-run victory over Australia in the triangular VB Series as the world champions were bowled out in the final over for 284 at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Set a victory target of 304, Australia came out with all guns blazing, with Adam Gilchrist rattling up a quick 21 before being caught by Lakshmipathy Balaji off the bowling of Irfan Pathan.

Ricky Ponting went for seven and Damien Martyn for just one as Matthew Hayden battled on admirably with little support.

Michael Clarke offered some resistance but he was caught by Rahul Dravid, again off Pathan's bowling, for 42.

But Hayden finally fell for 109 as he was outfoxed by the same combination and with the score at 204 for five an Australian win looked increasingly unlikely.

Michael Bevan finished 41 not out but it was all to no avail.

The Aussies were made to pay for not supporting their top-scorer Hayden as India had in their innings.

VVS Laxman hit 103 not out as he anchored the impressive Indians and was prepared to play second fiddle to both Sachin Tendulkar (86) and Dravid (74) with whom he made century stands.

With Hayden the only batsman to make more than 50, Australia would always struggle to reach such a high target and so it proved.

After Martyn's departure, Andrew Symonds was caught and bowled by Rohan Gavaskar for 20 with the score at 141 for four and the tail could not put the runs together to ever look like reaching the India total.

Ian Harvey was caught by Gavaskar off an Ashish Nehra ball for 13, while Brett Lee made just six before being caught by Anil Kumble off Balaji to complete a miserable run for the quickie, who had been caned for 80 runs in his allotted 10 overs.

Next, Jason Gillespie survived a run-out appeal that went to the television umpire even though he did not manage to ground his bat but did not last much longer, mistiming off Balaji to give Pathan a straightforward catch.

And with Brad Williams run out for a duck in the final over,

India completed a comprehensive win.

IMHO India are the best team in the world now, i'll give you credit though, i'd still say the Aussies were second best, just.
