Thing is with these types of cars, the designers often don't know how it's going to be received. In the 90s two of the most stylish and successful cars launched were the Ford Ka and the Land Rover Freelander, both could have been disasters due to their unconventional styling, but both sold in huge numbers. I imagine its the holy grail for car designers to come up with that one model that does it. Renault Megane tried it, almost did it, Audi did it with the TT, but (most of) those shown on here didn't.
