Because there are some total pricks in football. Was it Spurs fans singing "it should've been you" at Adebayor when he was at Arsenal, referring to some that coach massacre in Togo? It might been Arsenal fans more recently, I can't remember.

Or Millwall singing "Hillsborough" at Liverpool fans or "Istanbul" at Leeds fans.

The key words here are 'plan to parade'. It was never paraded, therefore we can't be sure it wasn't a made up story, which seems quite likely.
