My dad has been watching BHA for over 65 years and is currently a 1901 season ticket holder. He is now in his eighties and his health is suffering, he is determined to keep watching the team he loves despite a brain tumor and cancer!
He travels over from Worthing to every home game. Recently he had a car accident and he can't drive over any more, so he has caught the coach from The North Star in Worthing to the ground, but he is very unstable on his feet now and has fallen several times going to games. He finds the hustle and bustle at the matches very daunting now, but still wants to keep going, Brighton are his main interest and his true passion. Has anyone any idea how he might get any help to keep going eg do the club help disabled fans to their seats etc or can anyone escort him into the game wait with him during the game and then help him back to the coach afterwards without having to buy a season ticket eg a carer (my mum might be able to do that for him) as she realises how much watching the team means to him, she isn't that keen, but would do it if necessary.
I have emailed the club through the official website and I am still waiting to see if they come up with anything. It would be a shame if he can't go any more, after spending so much money and time over the years supporting them.
Has anyone any ideas, or know of anything any other elderly/disabled fans have managed to do?
