I have finally received my compensation for notice payment from the government, but there was a deduction of £700ish for JSA I “could” have claimed

I didn’t realise that under a period of notice you could claim JSA so therefore didn’t do so.

Can I retrospectively claim JSA to get this money back and instead of taking early retirement should I have signed on to JSA?

I dont work for DWP, but I think JSA is time limited to 26 weeks

I doubt you can claim retrospectively, but worth a try. Nothing ventured, nothing gained

Unsure why you have been deducted £700 for something you havent claimed - besides JSA is not means tested.
