[Football] Another Ajax match abandoned

Traumatic incident in their latest game with the RKC Waalwijk goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen involved in a heavy collision with an Ajax player. Medical staff straight on, players in tears, keeper motionless, then surrounded by screens and eventually carried off. Looks awful - potentially a broken neck or even worse

Haven't seen it, and don't want to, but he was apparently conscious when they took him to hospital so that a good thing at least.
Sounds like a few of the players were distraught when they came back out to applaud the fans.
Hope he is ok and recovers quickly.

Sounds like it was concussion, seems they feared it may have been a heart issue from one report (presume from being unresponsive initially). Must have been quite some blow, 50/50 challenge with the keeper should not result with a kick to the head with such impact.

I don’t think it was anything malicious. It appears that the forward got a bit of a nudge from the defender. Looks similar to Pete Cech’s injury.

Thank goodness it doesn't appear to have been as serious as was initially reported.
