This is yet another case of why you shouldn't believe anything managers (or pretty much anyone connected with football) say around this time. Big Sam was giving it the "We've spent money elsewhere, would be a miracle if it happens, blah, blah, blah." When all along, he KNEW this was going to happen.

They're all in on in - players, managers, agents, national papers, websites and club employees – drip feeding us duff information, making us look and feel like mugs when their baseless transfers don't come to anything.
