Just watching the Milan v Chelski game and saw Kalou go over just b4 half time...ok so it looked like it was a pen, but he flings his arms in the air as if he has just been shot...I think they did a survey recently...if you fling your arms in the air then more times than not you're simulating not being tackled!! If Kalou had just gone over he would have got the pen! :US:

It is so deep-rooted in the mindset of players now, that it just comes naturally to them. Their management don't discourage them from doing it so they don't see what the problem is.
They are participating in a sport where it is acceptable to try and gain an advantage by any means. The game is rotten to the core and like boxing, the more money that comes into the sport, the more crooks, con-men and spivs are attracted to it.
You will never stop players diving, if it is in their nature. People cheat and steal in all walks of life and football is no different.
It is now more important to try and win a penalty, than to stay on your feet and try to score a goal. Its the easy option. It covers up a lack of skill and close control in a confined area.
The football authorities don't see a problem, otherwise they would do something about it.

Its down to the foreign import of players, they cant handle the rougher, speedier game over here and feel the only way they can look good is by falling to the floor and rolling around for 7 metres.
It should be stamped out, be it with fines from the FA (using video evidence) or with bans.

I believe the mail are doing an anti diving campaign. But since the mail also seem to be against video games, violent movies, drinking, gays, swearing, etc. it just makes people dismiss it.

How about a modification to the rules along the lines of:

"If a player attempts to influence a referee's decision by going to ground deliberately, or over theatrically, play will continue regardless of whether a foul has been comitted."

That would stop it instantly.

That works for me. Perhaps you could send it to Mr Blatter and see if he'll include it in the rules for the World Cup?
