Maybe playing against players who are no better than league 1/league 2 standard helps even more.

That might help Connolly regain some confidence considering he has played so many games and has regressed.

Tell us about it! Some of us have been crying out for Connolly to go somewhere where he will recover his goal-scoring instincts - regardless at what level - for at least 18 months!

He's a bit marmite (mostly on the 'yuk' side) at 'Boro so far.

Not easy picking sides from a squad but do remember him having a run of just 4 games including that great goal and than he was left out. Also for strange reason was sometimes asked to play as a CF

Leyton, E10.
100% this , they showed his overhead kick goal on MOTD2 last night as part of a montage of players from various countries scoring in the premier league !
What a cracking goal that was !

A bold statement but I feel he was one of our best ever players when it came to technique. For one reason or another he couldn’t cut it in the PL but it wasn’t for the way he could hit a ball. Absolutely lasered one v Bournemouth as well in his purple patch. Thought he was a lovely player in that regard. And hair as well. Lovely hair.

Allan St Maximin was the same transfer fee as AJ. Can’t believe the club fell for paying high transfer fees from the Dutch league not once but twice.

look, he was never physically cut out for the pl. didn't have the strength or the speed to be a pl winger. would've liked to have seen him as a no. 10, but for some reason it never happened. but there is no questioning that he had very high level technique. think he'd do really well in somewhere like ligue 1.

Ligue 1 is the league closest to the PL with regards to physicality which is the main reason why there are more successful imports from there than any other league so no, I don’t think he would do well there.

He’s in the best place for his ability now.

Let’s get some perspective.

When you look at the transfer mistakes from other clubs such as Joe Linton & Haller from Germany or any of more than a dozen absurdly expensive signings by Villa & Everton, you’ll realise we have one of the best hit rates in the division. Our recruitment team have done astonishingly well over our EPL period.

This Joe Linton you speak of, can he play left back?

To be fair, after a rough start it seems Joelinton has come into his own playing slightly deeper and looks worth what they paid (by today's ridiculous standards at least)

A rough 'start'! You're being very generous with the phrase 'start'. He's coming to the end of his third season and the first two and half were pretty much complete write offs.
