I've heard similar, in fact that Potter wanted Webster signed as a condition of coming here.

I don't think you need to be 'ITK' to work that out.

GPott sings and he hasn't even got the photos of Swanny out on his desk when Webaldinio comes trotting in behind, without even the hint of a haggle.

'Don't worry GPott - that's how we conduct our business'.

I have always been of the opinion Potter is a coach who makes the best of what he is given. He did at Swansea and also at Ostenthingymabob. He must be drooling at the thought of making the best of working with Moder, Mwepu & Cucu (and of course good as new signing Yves Bissouma):)

Thankfully we have 4 very good people running our club and keeping it within long term sustainability. If the likes of Palace want to spunk £m's on a punt let them get on with it, I prefer the route we are taking.

As it stands the club think Connolly is still the better option or it would of been him sent out on loan.

The step up to the EPL is huge for any player let alone a relative newcomer to top end football, the championship will be a excellent place for Sima to play in and looking at his highlights reel he scores a lot of goals from crosses which Stoke thrive on.

You simply cannot buy a top striker for 7 million pounds, the club see potential so it's worth the punt, hopefully it will pay off and he learns and improves his game.

The club have made a few mistakes in buying average players on long contracts so this seems to be a whole new strategy, it may work out and next season we may have a player that's already tripled his worth, of course Sima may not live up to the clubs expectations but the financial hit won't be so bad if that unfortunately happens.

Football fans want the best players for their club no matter what the cost, for our club it isn't possible for that so we have to find other ways to get exceptional players in but at a reasonable price to the club.

How good would it be to improve year on year knowing we haven't just gone and paid whatever the agents want on overpriced players but did our business in a shrewd but calculated way balancing the books and also making the squad stronger year after year.

I'd rather Brighton and Hove Albion at least tried this method rather than having some billionaire sheikh just giving blank cheques to their new toy.

Hope our man is better at shooting than Spurs' new signing Pape Sarr...

Fair enough but unless I’m being whooshed I take what’s in the papers with a pinch of salt and can’t recall seeing a club announcing that we are chasing one of their players. However I don’t do Twitter, Facebook, etc

I don’t do Twitter etc either. And the press are, errr, unreliable. However, we always go hush hush, so the best we have is press or the other club.

I really don’t know what the basis for your thinking this is? This maybe exactly what Potter has done only to be told X Y Z aren’t available or out of reach. Just seems you want someone to blame for our recruitment. End of the day it comes down to money.

Of course every season a couple of sides punch above their salary cost / transfer sums, and a few under, but most PL seasons work out in a similar order to financial outlay. We’re hoping each season to buck the trend and be well above our outlay. Whether recruitment dept. or Potter, at the end of the day we can only spend what our owner permits to be spent.

What's the deal then these days with Potter's recruitment fella, who was with him in Ostersunds and followed him to Swansea and here?

Is he these days relegated to something akin a new player analyst..... We all know our fellas are Ashworth and Winstanley but what is the role of Kyle Macaulay, who is Potter's fella and youd assume would walk if he ever did.

There’s a lot of talking about his form dropping off towards the end of the season due partly to the pressure he was under and partly due to niggling injuries. What isn’t mentioned much and I wonder if it effected him is the fact he’s a young African lad who saw his club get tangled up in a pretty nasty racism incident. That must be a pretty tough thing to go through for anyone, but a 19 year old who has been thrust in to the spotlight only a few months before?! Good job there aren’t idiots booing the knee over here… oh.

I worry for the lad the first time he walks out to Stoke fans singing Delilah. He will be wondering what on earth it’s all about!?

Can only assume that another striker is being signed today. We are woefully short up front. Maupay who may or may not score goals required. Connelly who is not proven and Welbeck who may get injured at anytime. I like Potter but his comments about Zequiri are baffling. Says his best position is up front thru the middle but never played him there. Then plays him there against Cardiff. He scores so he sends him out on loan when we are short of strikers. He is expert on playing square pegs in round holes. Gross is the worst right wing back I have seen. moder is not a left wing back. We have one in the squad and then sends him out on loan. Trossard has been played all over the place and performs 1 in 5. The only players who play consistently are those in consistent positions. The central defenders and Bissouma. It won’t be long before Cucurella is being played anywhere else other than his best position. I like the idea of players being adaptable but play them in their best positions to get the best out of them but the Ziquri situation really was confusing as he is miles better than Connelly and would be as good as Maupay and Welbeck in my opinion if given a chance. Let’s hope we have a star striker coming in sometime today.
Christ almighty! - another football 'expert' who can't even spell the player's name! How deep a level of disrespect is that ..................................... send him to Houghton at Nottingum Forrest, why don'tcha ...........................

Oh lor' - if only we signed this fvckin' wonderkid Connelly. Let's face it, for some lazy posters who can't be bothered to spell our players' names there was just one good reason for getting rid of Jahanbakhsh, and it wasn't that he wasn't good enough! And no, in cases like the one I've quoted, don't come flailing in with the dyslexia defence - it doesn't apply; just disrespect and laziness.
