According to the BBC we’ve played 25 premier league games against teams in the relegation zone and won only 4 - the lowest win rate in the competition. This isn’t a new thing.

Absolutely this. People using our results against the bottom teams to beat Potter but it was exactly the same under Hughton.

First season couldn’t beat Stoke or Huddersfield home or away beaten by West Brom away.
Second Season took 1 point from Fulham and none from Cardiff never mind the two defeats to Burnley.

It’s not a new phenomenon.

Its too poor and needs to improve.

Of course it does - but why, over the course of a number of seasons, with a different management team, mostly different (and better) players, does the same problem persist? Is it just in the DNA of the club that we cannot beat that level of opposition? Why we generally bottle the ‘must wins’?

We seem to have developed a belief that we can go toe to toe with the best in the division - that wasn’t always the case. So why can’t we defeat the worst? Doesn’t make sense.

Did we? I don’t remember Ramsdale making many amazing saves.
He didn't say anything about amazing saves. He said we MISSED golden chances.

And Ramsdale did make 2/3 good saves, nit amazing, but good saves, that I can remember. At the end of the day, a save is a save, whether its a world class, amazing or straight forward save..

Because its football and sometimes you lose against worse opponents. Thats the reality of both Hughton & Potter. Some teams have enough individual quality to bail them out in most games like this - but GP doesnt and neither did CH. Frustrating indeed and something to work on.

Agreed but the point is we haven't won a single match against them, indeed frustrating and hopefully something GP can sort over the summer. Maybe he needs a different team for those games?

Yup, it needs to improve. As for a different team, there is absolutely room for getting another one or two players with a different set of skills that would be handy when trying to break down opponents like this. Thinking mainly physical presence but also a player like Lamptey, consistently able to challenge the opposition even if there's only small spaces available.

Yep. No point doing well against the big teams and still getting beaten if you can’t then do it against the worst teams.

Well, there is - fortunately each point is equal when it comes to the league table - it doesn't matter which side we take them from.

Imagine the position we'd be in right now if we hadn't beaten Liverpool and Spurs as well as picking up points against Chelsea and Everton.

If we end up going down, that's why.

Last year we won 4 drew 1 lost 1 against the relegated teams - it was the best we'd done against the bottom 3 since we got promoted and its what kept us up.

This year the lowly sides are giving us more respect, defending deeper and we've struggled to score against them (despite making a hatful of chances), we need to adapt - and thats what the premier league is, a constant game of adaptation.

Im not going to complain too much about us having a poor game, we're not Man City so we're going to have below par games occasionally. & im not going to complain too much about struggling to break them down, it was frustrating, but the thing that does undo them is the thing we've been screaming for all season...a clinical striker. Even when having a poor game it could have been 2-1, 3-1, or 4-1 in our favour had we put away very decent chances we created. Nothing new to get particularly irate about here. In the summer we need a Jahanbaksk upgrade to create more of these good chances, and we need our own Ings/Vardy/Bamford/DCL to put them away. With that player you give yourself a chance to win or draw these games even when playing poorly or we'll forever have poor results without that signing.

It's a pathetic return from those games.

A disgrace.

From being a Potter fan I am now questioning his ability to fix this issue.

IF Potter gets another season he needs to sort it out for next year.

Against bottom three -

BHA 4 points in 6 games
Newcastle 5 points in 4 games (Sheff U & WBA to play)
Burnley 6 points in 4 games (Sheff U & Fulham to play)
Southampton 10 points in 5 games (Fulham to play)
Palace 13 points in 5 games (Sheff U to play)

Against top three -

BHA 0 points in 5 games (Man City to play)
Newcastle 0 points in 4 games (Man City & Leicester to play)
Burnley 1 point in 6 games
Southampton 0 points in 5 games (Leicester to play)
Palace 5 points in 4 games (Man City & Leicester to play)

Absolute nonsense!!

3 points are 3 points regardless who they are against. If the we lose to a bottom 3 team and then they go on the rest of the season and do not pick up any other points and win against the top teams then it’s irrelevant.. we are 7 points clear so suggests we have done better over 32 games , it’s as simple as that.

Note : I’m a bit pissed

If we had beaten Fulham and Drawn with Liverpool, rather than the other way round, we would be 8 points ahead of Fulham rather than 7.

We pass well but need to do so at pace. Pass it into the net. The standing still with the ball on the halfway line also needs to be eradicated. I’m a big fan of Webster but he does this far too frequently.

Against the top sides we do this ... hence our better results have been against sides who attack us and leave us space.

Soon as teams get numbers behind the ball the first think we do is reduce our intensity and pace of how we move the ball.
