Agreed, defender's job is to defend first and foremost - the rest is very much a bonus.
Apparently Forest have paid for Gardener's "services" with the SkyBet transfer money they won - similar too us with CKR.

Good luck to them both however,
For me Bennett was ok going forward but couldn't defend if his life depended on it.
Gardner was a waste of wages and his level of effort was negligible.

An interesting read, in retrospect. It's easy to forget we thought we were quite good at one point last season - with a couple of loanees in starring roles! Heroes to zeros in one thread....................

Agree re Bennetts defending. Always wondered if he could be converted to a winger. He has very quick feet, likes to take players on and often got in good goal scoring positions.
