The same thing applies this year to avoid relegation, as it did last year to get promotion. Match or better the results of the teams aound/below us, will see us safe.
There are just 5 points between 12th & 20th.
Obviously we all want to win and have better results, but we are doing ok.

The miserable bedwetters on here make it sound like we are all but certain to go down - only doubt is whether we finish bottom or not.
The truth is that Chris Hughton is an excellent manager and to keep this squad in the Premier League will be a great achievement.

Going of at a tangent, having just watched Manchester City on Match of the Day I can't get over the one second cheer their goals receive. It seems winning has become so routine that goals barely warrant more than a bit of a "yes" from their support.
One good thing about struggling through our season. At least we get to go properly batshit mental with each goal because we need them.

Our performance tonight when we were level far exceeded when we were winning.
The problem is obvious.

Back from the game now so will expand.
I would suggest that Soton looked fitter than our players, stronger (in that we are easily muscled off the ball) and that once we went ahead, we sat back and invited them to attack.
When we lost the ball it seemed the first thought was to get back into shape whereas Soton players immediately pressed the man in possession. That probably explained more than anything why our players gave the ball away so easily. Our crossing was very poor.
So, in my view our performance was dire but we managed to scrape a point. Against Chelsea, we lost 4-0 but our performance was much better! That is of course my opinion. You can of course agree or disagree.
