The most urgent is a creative brain in midfield. We can carry the rest.

Don't agree on that. LB is our weakest point. Sign one and probably a striker and we could be there. We will need some loan players to cover our guaranteed injuries.

We have a number who can score goals if the chances are provided unlike last season when they werent.

Like who??? CMS i agree with, I think he is going to be a big player for us this season. No one else apart from Crofts has got more than 5 goals a season in them. O'Grady may get a dozen, who knows. But a 20+ goal a season striker would almost guarantee top 6.

I'd be happy with three at this stage:

- Left back
- Creative attacking midfielder
- Striker

If each midfielders gets 4 plus 10 - 15 from COG we are nearly there with CMS 20+

I would say four. The left back, we know. I'd imagine that Maxsimenko/Ince will cover the fourth centre half (can always loan a player if bad injuries occur). I would only say one striker, as it sounds like we'll only play one up front still, but also add your winger and a creative midfielder like Orlandi was the first season.

According to a work colleague who travelled to watch the Real Betis match when talking to their fans afterwards they were most impressed with Ince and said he was the best player on the pitch and they also thought Masimenko looked class as well so hope this could be a bit of a breakthrough season for him

One year on. if he played in the right position, JFC could be that creative midfielder.

I certainly hope so.

Would dramatically help if at least one of the new signings was a dead ball specialist. Who's scheduled to take the free kicks and penalties, now both David and Ulloa have gone?

prefer a right back with pace to another centre back
especially if Sami wants to play them further up the field
and decent strikers are expensive can't believe we can afford 2
a loan is more realistic

Players lost last season / players replaced with:

Koosh / Stockdale - good

Upson / Hughes - indifferent
Ward (loan) / nothing yet, but apparently interested

Lopez / nothing yet
Andrews (loan) / Toko - good
Orlandi / nothing yet

Lingard (loan) / nothing yet, but maybe available again?
Barnes / O'Grady - good
Ulloa / nothing yet

So that means we're desperately missing a LB, a creative midfielder (or 2) and at least one striker.

JFC seems to be taking them at moment but don't expect him to start so need someone who can deliver in this area as set pieces have always been something we have struggled with

Definitely a LB

A creative midfielder in the Vicente mould

Definitely a winger as Buckley and LuaLua are injury prone

Definitely one out and out goal scorer

That leaves CB which is important if we have a real ambition to go for top 2. I agree that Maxi could do a job, so could Ince but to make top 2 we need a commanding, no nonsense CB in the Cullip mould.

If we get all of those I will gladly eat a whole humble pie!!

Your forgetting, Hoskins, El Abd and Bridcutt....And why does everyone assume Toko is a good signing??? Surely the jury is out on this one. From what I've seen which is pretty much the same as most on here, he will be lucky not to get sent off every game. O'Grady, Toko and Hughes all have question marks over them. Stockdale however is an excellent signing.

If we can bring in a strong signing at Left Back, then I'd be happy at August 9th. The rest can fill in afterwards.

I agree having watched the friendlies in Spain I am not sure either Bruno or Calde are quite right for how Sami wants to play. I think Sami thinks Bruno could be better in midfield as this is where he was played in these games.
