You got me, I did have a pair of black and white checked trousers, similar to those worn by the retarded looking boy, third on the right

I will own up to having a pair of the checked monstrosities on the right. I was 8 and they were purchased for me, not from Kays but one of the cheap market stalls in Burgess Hill and thus were made of a horrendous mixture of known and unknown man made fibres which resembled the consistency of sandpaper against the legs. Needless to say I hated them, would be forced to wear them, until one day when I worked out that if I played football in them, did a few sliding tackles and dives I might ruin them. The cheap material came apart with the first tackle thus saving me having to wait a few years to grow out of them.

I think, if you post a picture, yes. 100%.

Somewhere in the deep, deep depths of a distant wardrobe there lurks a said picture. To make matters worse I was wearing clogs at the time. Oh, no one mentioned the clogs yet? So bloody uncomfortable, impracticable but fashionable. May the said picture never be found.

Watched a movie, Trouble Man, with a top Marvin Gaye soundtrack.

A better illustration of high 70's elegance and sartorial eloquence you would not be able to find.

in the late 70s I wore a lot of mauve and a lot of brown (not together). These together with 4inch platforms (had to duck when walking between rooms) that were excruciatingly painful and a mullet made me irresistible - couldn't work out why I was single til the early 80s.

Easy to knock now, but as a young lad with a 'long back' running around in loon pants and various hipsters, I must have spent about ten years of my life with my shirt tails flapping around. To be honest, and looking at it rationally, I could have done with something like this! Provided there was an option to have a sh1t without stripping to the buff, of course.

Looking back, i think i might have looked a bit of a dick in my high heeled, slip on, clogs ..........but crombies, Harringtons, black paralells, brogues, Docs, Ben Shermans etc were all perfectly good clothes & i'd wear any of them even now ahead of the current hipster look. I'd like to think that they will feel very embarassed in a few years' time.

I know it's not a fashion ad, but it is from the 1970s, and...well... :lolol:
