Disagree completely. We need to keep up tbe pressure until the problems are fixed and the rotten apples in British politics are all removed. Just think how much healthier the Tory Party would be if they acknowledged the root causes of the Windrush debacle, sincerely apologised and made sure that they put it right, punishing those responsible no matter how senior. No obfuscation, a hands up that they messed up and want to put things right.

Likewise, if the Labour Party made it their priority to restore their reputation with the Jewish community by being ruthless in rooting out the anti-Semitism within their ranks.

All this is very doable but if we all keep our heads down then nothing will ever get done.

Someone in the Labour Party is prepared to acknowledge a problem that others claim doesn't exist:

The leader of Barnet's Labour group has released a statement, promising the organisation will become a "beacon" to the rest of the party on how to tackle anti-Semitism.

Addressing the group's "Jewish brothers and sisters", Barry Rawlings said those who didn't vote Labour because they felt the party wasn't addressing the issue were right.

He said: "I pledge that Barnet Labour will be a beacon to the rest of the Labour Party in tackling and defeating this anti-Semitism virus that has infected our party.

"For me dealing with anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of hate is not an electoral issue, win or lose, it’s a moral responsibility that defines who we are as a party.

"We either fix this or our values of equality, social justice and human rights die."

In Barnet, which has a Jewish population of 15%, the highest of any council in the country, Labour were humiliated and the Tories secured the result of the night. Turnout in Golders Green was an incredible 70%.

In the Kensal ward in Salford, which has a Jewish population of 40%, the highest of any ward in the country, the Tories took it from Labour.

In the Pilkington Park ward in Bury, which has a Jewish population of around 25%, there was a huge swing from Labour to the Tories, who won by 700 votes.
