Saw them support The Buzzcocks, along with The Members, a few months ago in Manchester.

Gene had been for a Chinese meal pre gig so had to sing sitting down for the whole gig as a bit full.

Great gig though.

I got to know Chris, the bassist with the Members in the late 70s, as he used to hang out at the Nashville up the end of North End Road. I'd seen them, and Nicky Tesco was really shy on stage. I told Chris to get him to jump around a bit. Saw them a few weeks later at the Marquee, and the rest is history punk::lolol:

Point of order. No way you had forgotten about them, you're their biggest fan!

Good point, well made, it's true I have everything they've ever brought out, including the lead singer's 650 page autobiography. Just because I've seen them live 28 times doesn't make me their biggest fan, just makes me a stalker.

If we're going back to the 80s then a few more bands. None of these are particularly cool but I did like all of them:

Cookie Crew, Fuzzbox, The Bluebells, Strawberry Switchblade.

In the late eighties and early nineties I shared a house with a mate who was really into the Sub Pop stuff. Being a twee indie kid I didn't think a lot of most of it, but when he played me 'Sliver' and subsequently 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' by Nirvana I thought they were brilliant. I didn't have a lot of time for the earnest bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden that got successful on the subsequent grunge wave, but what I did like was the short period of attention given to the US alternative rock bands that shared Nirvana's DIY pop sensibilities.
