I have no idea, personally, with regard to seasonality, but I find it hard to imagine there isn't any. Maybe traders won't adjust their prices during the quieter times, but I would imagine your ability to bargain harder would be increased. It was certainly the case with convertible cars whenever I was looking in the past.
My personal likes are for old VW split screens and I've not seen much variance there of any note. Unfortunately you'd be looking at 2 or 3 times your budget to secure a decent splitty.

Prices don't seem to fluctuate that much.
I have a swb VW T4 camper van and I love it. Id definitely recommend one to you. A diesel engined model will do 300k hassle free miles with regular servicing and is easily fixed in all European garages 'should' you break down. Mines a 2001 reg with 120k on the clock and runs great.
Having a van packed and ready to go away whenever you want is a brilliant thing.
Get one ! You'll love it.

We have a VW T25 1990 absolutely love it, but it does cost to keep it going.
We have just put in a new engine 5k - but it runs really well now. It cost about £10k 3 years ago

We bought an oldie and used it for years. It was great fun the down side was the cost of pitching now is getting very high in this country if you want running waterand electric point. Great if you have a bus pass and can leave it on site and use the bus to get into town etc. For 10k it will be reasonably old as they hold their prices well, even old ones. We avoided a VW as they are too cramped and if buying one now would look at an Auto Sleeper on a Transit or similar base.
My advice is to buy a copy of a specialist Campervan monthly book to see what is available and the prices.

There is a curious halfway house I've been thinking about recently. Some people have squeezed a Subaru engine into the back. 200+ bhp of reliability pushing you along.

I heard of a Hymer based on a Fiat Ducato the other day. Seems to have everything on it ,almost a years MOT and around your budget or less. It's near Guildford. PM me if you want me to find out more.
I know a chap out near horsebridge who has a 2l subaru engine in his, apparently it has an alarming tendency to rear up when he guns it...
to the OP - I spent £2.5k on an aircooled T25 8 years ago and apart from a new clutch it has never needed much love and given us countless awesome summer trips from brittany to glastonbury and all points in between. Do it!

that is very very nice. though more for the green, engine is a bit OTT for a van and need some serious unseen gearbox and drive shaft upgrades i think. original engine is about 60BHP rising to 80BHP for a lat model iirc.
VW campers have gotten very expensive, i remember not so long ago you could get a decent, welded, not immaculate but ready to go bay window for 5-6k. i gather that would be twice that now. my old man has a import from Brazil which is nice but the engine has been nothing but trouble (dodgy FI, fitted carbs now and much better).
