Third Test England v South Africa, The Oval, July 27-31

Working abroad today so missed all the fun. Thanks for the link - absolutely brilliant. Classic TMS.

I also think psychologically the thought of going in to bat 100% knowing that you have no chance of winning (like when you need near 500, rather than say 400 which is still very unlikely but a glimmer of hope remains) leaves you massively on the back foot from the start, hence the regular...

Wouldn't make any difference as they would take tea anyway. Think we'll declare at the break.

Little bit after tea I'd think. Evening session will be long. Difficult to score really quickly with test bowling/field settings

Good estimate of where we'll be at that point....don't need to speed up much to get another 100 between lunch and tea to put us about 430 ahead. In all likelihood will then have a quick dart after tea to try and add another 50 or so quickly, then stick them in for the long evening session.

So you thought 250 before lunch, against a test attack and no fielding restrictions, was doable ? [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Don't think you were, because you posted that AFTER you posted this : 'Against all my principals I would go for 1 day batting until lunch time tomorrow (4th day) and then go for the win as we should have a sufficient lead to not lose. Thats it for today no more play.':mad::mad::mad:

You want us to get 250 runs by lunchtime ? In a test ?? \without risking being bowled out for less than 100 and handing them a chance ?

Bit of a gamble (remember SA lost 7 wickets for f-all, and whilst 'one day' batting is fine, there wouldn't be a one-day field), and as you indicate contrary to just about everything you've ever posted on test match cricket :) I reckon assuming weather is OK we'll bat much of tomorrow, aiming...

Anything over 300 would make it extremely unlikely that we'd lose.....

    Excellent bowling......

Yep, that's the lot. Making a mockery of the league. I played against them 2-3 years ago (div 6 I think). We got him caught off a no ball early on.............and actually got him out in the 12th over. For about 115.

Apparently going to play in the Sussex Invitation League - been a whole load of issues around the team that he's been linked with.

Got it on in the background....BS and JB making it look like a different game on a different pitch at the moment. Aggressive stuff with some fantastic shots being played. I know. That's ****ed it then.
