sad when sexual assaults become a political football. makes it all pointless to discuss any further, no one really cares past the points they think they can score.
it wasnt obvious because i wasnt trying to make any point beyond the Albanians are a new dimension to the problem. which is what i posted.
yes, address the problem of illegal methods of transport. first problem is lack of legal means to claim asylum. once you have that solved, can tackle the...
i feel like im reading a parallel thread. started off linking to an interesting BBC article, which cites evidence in parliament that there is a significant issue with Albanians. others are trying to play down the impact, i dont know what to say if you haven't read those posts.
my solution...
it seems it is a trigger though.
from testimony of Commander Dan O'Mahoney, supporting your own anecdotal information on absconding.

i wasnt refering to the success rate but the totals reported. in front of the HoC committee, the commander for border force claims 12k Albanians this year, mostly men. the article says 86% of successfull claims are women (of Albanian claimants). it doesn't account the number of unmade claims...
15% of what? if the total number i didnt see one. previous year was 48k claims, so 12k more seems quite a lot more to absorb. all the numbers seem to be a lot higher for the first half of the year, with further increase rate since June.
the Albanian migrants have dramatically increased numbers this year, from 800 last year, 12k so far this year. of the 12k, 10k are men according to the border force commander. looks like they are saturating the system, they cant process and send back as fast as they arrive...
seems its the later. more border checks on ferry routes means more difficult to enter that way, so moved to boats. total is moving up but the total by boat moving faster. leads to higher numbers caught, easier to scoop up 10, 15, 20 people at a time, where individuals under lorries got through...
its popular to look and act hard on immigration, obvious the current policies arent working. i reckon Sunak knows it has to change, giving Braverman enough rope then replace with new Home Secretary and new approach. there were hints in the summer campaign, things like changing definitions (like...
suit yourself. we're the same as others countries, placing migrants in some controlled accomodation while a process happens. pitching in emotive words just contributes to the low tone.
well they obviously feel UK is the best country for them, offering the best opportunity to rebuild their life.
it's a completely different issue to how or why they arrived, they are here now how to manage them. even if you want to deport everyone you still need to house them until that process...
need to be more asylum centres to cope, though last one i heard of being created got too much local objections and binned. we want refugees to have structured accomodation, safe and providing support services; but no one want centres near them either. as always the question begged is how do...
